FAQ

Do I need an account?

No account is required to use Voca. You need no sign-up, no email and no password.

Is my data secure?

Yes. Voca needs no account and sells no data. We don’t ask for your name, email address or phone number, and we don’t know who you are.

Your recordings are sent encrypted (HTTPS) to our servers to be transcribed, then deleted as soon as processing ends, even if it fails. The transcribed text is erased from our servers within 48 hours.

Your transcriptions are stored on your device, and in your iCloud if sync is turned on.

Your data is handled in line with the GDPR: the details are in our privacy policy.

Which languages do you support?

Voca supports the 13 most spoken languages in the world: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi and Arabic.

You pick the language you dictate in from Voca’s settings. It is separate from the app’s own language, which follows your device.

Can I import a file to transcribe it?

Yes, a recording already on your iPhone can be imported into Voca to be transcribed. Voca accepts common audio formats (M4A, MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC…), up to 3 hours in total.

Can I transcribe audio straight from another app?

Yes. From Messages, WhatsApp, Voice Memos or any other app, share the audio to Voca: the transcription appears straight away, to copy or to keep in your notes.

Does Voca work without an internet connection?

Transcription works offline, but the quality may be lower. The recording is kept on your device so you can transcribe it again once you are back online.
